NDIS Allied Health Services for Children

Hunter Children's Clinics supports families accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Newcastle and across the Hunter region. This page explains how NDIS funded services work with us, our pricing, and what we need from you before your child's first NDIS appointment.

NDIS services for children

We are a paediatric clinic in Newcastle with paediatricians and an allied health team. It is our allied health services that can be accessed through the NDIS, where a child's plan includes the relevant supports. This may include occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, and dietetics, depending on your child's goals and funding. The NDIS does not fund paediatric medical consultations, so appointments with our paediatricians are arranged separately in the usual way. Our reports and assessments can also help demonstrate the need for supports at plan reviews.

Service Agreements

A Service Agreement is required before we begin ongoing NDIS funded supports. The agreement sets out the services to be provided and the terms, so that expectations are clear for everyone. Our admin team will guide you through this when you get in touch.

NDIS pricing

For NDIS-funded services, we charge in line with the current NDIS price guide (the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits). Because those price limits are updated by the NDIA, we follow the current published rates rather than listing fixed figures here, so what you are charged always reflects the up-to-date guide.

You can see our private fees on the fees and referrals page, and our admin team can talk through what applies to your child's plan when you get in touch.

How your plan is managed

NDIS plans can be self managed, plan managed, or agency (NDIA) managed, and this affects how invoices are handled. We accept self managed and plan managed participants. We are not able to accept agency managed (NDIA managed) participants at this time. If you are not sure how your child's plan is managed, our admin team is happy to help you check before you book.

Working towards your child's goals

NDIS funded services are provided in line with the goals in your child's plan. Our clinicians work with families to understand those goals and to plan supports that are practical and meaningful for your child, whether the focus is communication, daily living skills, emotional wellbeing, or nutrition. Progress is reviewed over time so that supports continue to reflect your child's needs.

Reports and assessments

Requests for reports, including reports to support plan reviews, require a dedicated appointment of approximately 30 to 60 minutes so that the work can be done properly. We do our best to be timely, but no deadlines are promised. If you have a plan review date approaching, please contact us as early as possible.

Before your first NDIS appointment

To make the first appointment as useful as possible, we ask that relevant records are provided at least two weeks before your child's first NDIS consultation. This gives the clinician time to review the information in advance.

Payment and cancellations

Telehealth appointments are generally pre-paid, with the exception of plan managed NDIS bookings. For NDIS funded appointments, a cancellation or failure to attend attracts a 100% cancellation fee, in line with our cancellation policy. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to change an appointment.
