Paediatrician and Child Health Services for Port Stephens Families

Hunter Children's Clinics serves families across Port Stephens, including Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Karuah and surrounding areas. We do not have a clinic in Port Stephens itself: families attend our Merewether or Carrington clinics in person, or use telehealth, whichever suits the appointment.

Travelling from Port Stephens

Both clinics are reachable from Port Stephens by road, with Carrington generally the more direct route from Raymond Terrace and Medowie via the Pacific Highway, and Merewether a further drive along the coast. Our Newcastle directions page has parking details for both clinics. If you are planning a longer trip, our admin team can help you think through timing when you book.

In person or by telehealth

Many reviews and check-ins can be conducted by telehealth, which can save a return trip from Port Stephens for routine appointments. Initial assessments, and some reviews, are usually better done in person, and your clinician will let you know what suits your child. You can read about how telehealth appointments work on our telehealth page.

Services available

Families from Port Stephens can access general and developmental paediatrics, autism assessment, ADHD assessment and care, psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology and dietetics.

How to book

New paediatric patients need a valid GP referral before an appointment can be booked. Once your GP has sent a referral, please call us on 02 4072 1877 to arrange an appointment at Merewether or Carrington, or to ask about telehealth. See our fees and referrals page for more detail.
