Child Development Assessments for Central Coast Families
Hunter Children's Clinics serves families across the Central Coast, including Wyong, Gosford, Terrigal and surrounding areas. We do not have a clinic on the Central Coast: families attend our Merewether or Carrington clinics in person, or use telehealth.
Travelling from the Central Coast
Both clinics are reachable from the Central Coast by heading north along the M1 Pacific Motorway. Given the distance, we lean on telehealth wherever it is clinically appropriate to reduce the need for a long round trip. Our Newcastle directions page has parking details for the days an in-person visit is needed.
Telehealth for reviews, in person for assessments
For Central Coast families, we place a strong emphasis on telehealth for ongoing reviews and check-ins. Initial assessments, particularly comprehensive assessments such as autism assessment, are usually still done in person where possible, since they benefit from face-to-face observation. Your clinician will discuss what is appropriate for your child. You can read about how telehealth works on our telehealth page.
Services available
Central Coast families can access general and developmental paediatrics, autism assessment, ADHD assessment and care, psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology and dietetics.
How to book
New paediatric patients need a valid GP referral before an appointment can be booked. Once your GP has sent a referral, please call us on 02 4072 1877 to arrange an appointment at Merewether or Carrington, or to ask about telehealth. See our fees and referrals page for more detail.
