The national rollout of Thriving Kids services begins from October 2026 and expands progressively across states and territories, with the main change to NDIS access for younger children taking effect from 1 January 2028. The official fact sheet does not name any state as going first, so we can't yet say exactly when services will reach NSW or the Hunter specifically. How it's expected to be delivered in NSW
Under Thriving Kids, states and territories are responsible for delivering general parenting supports, local information and navigation, and targeted allied health supports, while the Commonwealth runs national information, phone advice, and workforce initiatives. In NSW, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is coordinating the state's rollout. Exact local delivery arrangements, including which organisations will provide services in the Hunter, are still being finalised.
